Question: I haven’t played in months. Do I need to do the story missions or can I just go to the new land immediately?

I love that it’s almost theater when someone gets sued like this.

Back during Stormbloods stormy launch (ha) people found a way around it.  Not sure if it’ll still work since its been a hot minute since Stormblood.

When he took over XIV he brought out his development team onto stage and formally apologized to everyone. It wasn’t even his fault — He wasn’t on the project until basically that moment, but he took it personally and bowed in apology multiple times. It was surprising.

Harder PR sell to yoink the free trail. Much better to keep it going, try to mitigate the situation as best as possible, and have the producer personally apologize for the situation. In that instance it shows you’re working on the problem and taking the responsibility for the solution while also showing remorse.

I can understand all of that, and I respect those people who do. I think, and this is just my own experience, it clashes so much with how I approach games that makes it difficult for me to always understand where these people are coming from.

Very true, sometimes just doing a thing is worthwhile.  I sometimes forget that.

I’ll definitely give this a go. I’ve never quite understood speed running myself as it always felt like the antithesis of playing the game (watch me beat an RPG in 7 minutes with random bugs) but again, my opinion isn’t the defacto choice for the world and its why I don’t ruin other people’s fun.

While true, a challenge is a challenge, but why do hundreds if not thousands of people watch someone do it?  Whats in it for the audience is what I’m trying to understand.

This is not me being a wet blanket, more like I don’t understand and I wish to understand, so I hope I do not come across as insensitive.

That’s true about Turn A - I always forget about that series.

AGE, from what I gather, is what they wanted something like the Build series to be, an entry point to the franchise -- that’s why the AGE upgrades and has side modifications, but the story kinda flopped.  I do love Age’s designs, the G-Bouncer is easily one of my favorite non-Gundam mobile suits.

The Gundams from IBO are old. They’re from the Calamity War that almost destroyed humanity (there’s 77 of the frames). So every Gundam you see has been in storage or buried or lost to time.

I just want the old breaker developers back.  I’m okay with waiting a little bit longer.

Wait wait. Gundam Breaker 4 by the original developers, not the ones who made New.

So I played XI during US PC launch which was Zilart / Promathia and then Aht Urghan is when I quit.

I love that the game is so popular. I love that people are enjoying XIV for the amazing game that it is.

Solo?  Heck, you aren’t questing with your chocobo?  Mine has been with me for every expansion, my dedicated healer birb. :D

So just a side note, the MC isn’t the descendant of the original stories Protag. His name is, canonically, Lute.

My own personal shot in the dark but I think they realized getting the microchips for a newer model may not be economically or industrially profitable this season so they went this route to tell investors they made a new console upgrade.
