I’m glad I wasn’t the only one who had XB moments while playing Rebirth. You can tell the team tired to mimic that amazing vista view of the landscape that XB is known for.

Man, I really wanted Anthem to work, too. They absolutely nailed the feel of flying around in power armor, and the idea of cooling your engines by diving into water was a nice touch.
I’ve been wondering this myself. I was running all over the Grasslands doing everything and Chadley insisting on Facetime I kept thinking “I don’t want to be over leveled for the story,” So I pushed beyond the swamp. I didn’t do EVERYTHING but I did do a lot, and got the protorelic.
I generally hate to generalize when something goes to shit but I swear to God every horrible thing to come out of the economy can be traced back to the Reagan years.
Terminus. That was when the series jumped the shark for me. It felt like it became less about telling a story and more “how can we really hurt these characters?”
Which is like...not fun after awhile. I realized I wasn’t enjoying the show and I didn’t enjoy seeing people basically tortured endlessly, both physically…
It’s two timelines. This is evident by the cartoon dog they show — in the game we play its designed differently, and in the one we see with Zack and Cloud Zack didn’t die.
Aerith and Zack dying seems ordained since, if I remember correctly, Nomura said these games link up with Advent Children — in which they’re dead.
My personal theory is that Cloud will be the one who dies at the end. This is because we have “two” Cloud’s as established by the end of Remake. Cloud is warned or given a vision about how Aerith will die and sacrifices himself to save her, thus letting her continue on the journey she was never allowed to have all…
This may be a bit of a side track so I apologize in advance.
I wonder if this is going to reference Bill and his machine all the way back from Red and Blue.
Arguably, yes it is. You spend time > Get more eggs > potential for the Pokémon with stats you want.
I freely admit I do not follow the Pokemon professional leagues so if I get something off I apologize.
I mean, isn’t that the point of the competition? You put in the work and show it off. Otherwise it’s just...fluff? Like, I understand it saves time and maybe that’s the fault of the meta but I believe if you’re going to compete on the world stage you should be doing it in the spirit of the games, complete with…
As someone who did the College Program at WDW, Adult Disney Entitlement is horrible.
Maiinline Final Fantasies lately have seemed to mimic MMORPG mechanics. XII is very much XI’s battle system in offline form. XV is also like a hacky slashy MMO in a lot of ways as well.
I would say that the series, as a whole, isn’t about the march ever forward to modernity but they absolutely push themselves with each game in some new directions. Graphics, gameplay, mechanics, FMVs, voiced dialogue, different combat styles...
Because this isn’t about Dragon Quest. DQ also leans HARD into its retro roots where as Final Fantasy has continually marched forward toward modernity.
Back then we didn’t think it could be anything else. The industry hadn’t evolved the way it has and given game creators a lot of tools to tell stories in different ways. This isn’t to say It’s explicitly right, either. I do remember people being upset with X being “fully 3D” and that Summons could be used in battle.…
Final Fantasy as a classification has demonstrated to be fluid. We’ve had several games now with different forms of combat — We haven’t had a real turn based game since, what, IX? X if you count their unique battle system and yet X is consider beloved by the fanbase.
The thing is that there IS backlash when you do these sort of things openly, and for better or for worse, showing without explicitly telling has been in Hollywood’s wheelhouse for decades.
