I don't understand this sentiment. Are you not happy for friends and family who get married? I personally love giving people gifts and celebrating with them. Most registries have cheap options and you can always give smaller amounts of cash or gift cards. So why so grinchy?

Who cares! Either way is fine. I will say that I was relieved when V-day didn't end up being our date (we did a weird thing where I had to wait to get the date from the wedding company I used rather than picking), somewhat because now I don't have to explain for life that I am not a sap who intentionally got married…
