I've read that for true psychopaths (not sure if this qualifies but it sounds like it) regular therapy can actually make them worse because it provides another person to practice deceiving / manipulation on.

When my S.O. was out of town the other week I slept with a rolling pin by my bed for this very purpose. I almost can't sleep when he's gone because I have fears like this.

Diff'rent strokes. I personally prioritize paying for my friends to have a great time over a lot of other things I could spend money on for the occasion. I look at it as, when I went to/will go to their weddings I'll drink for free, and when they come to mine they will.
