I was actually at that charger on Saturday afternoon and yeah, it’s bad.

But i also drove straight from Visalia to Santa Barbara and that was the only one with a line anywhere near that long (Kettleman City was 1/2 empty at noon), Buelton had a bit of a line (maybe 15-30 minutes) but this was basically one really out

30k miles at 18mpg is an expensive hobby.

Yeah it doesn’t make sense if you’re not otherwise in the market.

When the time comes please consider at least a hybrid, these ICE vehicles are going to be around for a while. If you can’t get a hybrid at least get a used vehicle.

We really need to stop cranking out brand new conventional ICEs.

keep an eye out on plugshare dot com for the most comprehensive view of infrastructure. It can be spotty in the middle of the country but Electrify America is really pushing the network hard there.

Another handy tool for simulating what a trip would look like in an EV is “a better route planner”. Puts the charge times

I didn’t see what you’re driving now. If you’re already in a priusV or similar an EV won’t pencil out but if you’re driving around the average 25mpg at the average cost of regular ($2.50) that’s like $3k/year in fuel alone, so even if you had a terrible EV charger install with a panel upgrade you’d get that back in

BMW does this titanium or light bronze colored trim now and i really want to wrap my car’s the same way if i can ever find what it’s called.

source for the high number:

Honestly the biggest issue for the ETron is the lease price was stupid at first (like $1375) Now they seem to be willing to play ball and they’re getting into the 800's which is reasonable. My guess is they thought there was this pent up demand for a Non-Tesla luxury EV and want’ed to capitalize on it.

How many miles do you drive a year?

I’m just thinking the whole sloping back with the flying buttresses.

Whether that edge induces flow separation is something I don’t think i could eyeball. There’s also some tricks they could do to keep that flow attached.

just do it like i wash myself, with a rag on a stick.

as far as i can tell the Teepee is functional for reducing drag.

That said it may be worth the compromise to a more traditional bed setup.

I do like how the vault has the cover connect to the roof instead of flat like a normal truck, then you can secure even larger items at the front of the bed.

$30k? Is that after the tax credit?

These trims in the normal hybrid are about that much, and then you’re talking about a battery 2x the size of a Prius Prime’s. I wouldn’t e surprised if it’s pushing 40 by the time you get it off the lot. But there is a credit so maybe it’ll end up the same price.

Good luck getting

The more expensive upgraded version of the leaf that is indeed quite comparable to the bolt would also qualify as a mega leaf, But when GM as developing the Bolt a leaf only had a 30-40kwh battery.

You’re quoting the leaf ePlus which didn’t come out until 3 years after the bolt.

Way more range, and it’s faster.
Maybe slightly bigger inside but not by much.

True. a friend has one and absolutely loves it.
It’s a great concept but the outlander itself isn’t that competitive in its segment.

It’s too bad they didn’t bring it to the US years sooner. It was sold globally looong before they brought it here and by then the platform had aged a lot.

we used to fly these out on the corporate jet when I worked on hydraulic valves. We’d get an order for like 1 or 2 very specialized valves. Hand build them and then take them to the airport immediately.

yeah i’m not sure it’s going to be economic to resto-mod my model S when the time comes.

It’ll probably live out its golden years as a taxicab somewhere. Maybe get a battery swap and then eventually be turned into beer cans.

I would totally understand if GM said “hey this BEV thing is still a ways away from being viable, so in the meantime we’re going to offer the traverse and equinox as hybirds” Maybe save the PHEVs for GMC (just spitballing here)

Would that have been so terrible? Instead they put a diesel in the Terrain which no one
