My crackpot theory is that they know the days of RWD V8 mustangs are numbered as the buyers age and it’s not suited to where the growth is so they’re going to get the fanbase ready with this thing and if it’s successful they’ll take this platform and coup-ify it.

because the Leaf has been around a long time to get to 400k units and isn’t really profitable either.

They’re going to need to push higher volumes to actually make money.

I remember Norwegians screaming for the Bolt when GM was slow walking the Ampera-E rollout (ffs all the names are bad).

That was always the thing with the Bolt. It wasn’t a mini Tesla it was a mega leaf. Especially with the nerfed charge speed.

The thing is, sine the bolt isn’t making them money it’s been left to die on the vine. The form factor probably would’ve made sense as an Opel in Europe.. but then they sold Opel so.... ?

The powertrain is good enough for a cadillac. They should’ve basically built the mach-E 3 years ago as a cadillac CUV and sold it

making it a bigger 3 row SUV and calling it explorer would’ve actually been a bold move.

Your only choices in that segment right now are the Model X and the Pacifica PHEV.

I had to have this conversation with my dad a few years ago about his 1986 Mercedes 190 Diesel daily driver.

It wouldn’t be such a cheap car in retrospect if he had to stop working 5 years earlier due to a debilitating injury in an accident he would’ve otherwise walked away from

The best part is they released this feature early so they could book $30M in deferred revenue from Full Self Driving orders.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

like if you want to watch nearly stock cars run, Amateur racing exists and is in many ways more fun to watch since not everyone is a perfect lap running robot.

Race cars are just different beasts than road cars.

Using “””“stock”””” bodies in white is just marketing.

Especially since balance of performance rules will just nerf anyone with an actual advantage.

The two advantages of supercruise are the driver monitoring system that watches your eyes (hence why you don’t need to keep your hands on the wheel) and geofencing so people don’t use it on roads where it’s not intended.

It can be tricky to engage but from what I’ve read most experts consider it a superior ADAS.

There’s a good comparison from iihs at the bottom here.

i haven’t seen a good head to head lately but it was a long time before they got back to where they were with the mobileye equipment. Maybe 2018.

Hoping to see that coast to coast autonomous run one of these days.

I’ve heard the lane keeping tends to throw surprises

I really don’t buy the naming issue.

The people who get into autopilot are complacent experienced users. You could call it the LT4 driver assist pack or whatever terrible name GM would give it and some people would still take risks. It’s also telling that the people who end up in the news are men. They know they’re

That’s unfair. GM’s products have always been obsessively engineered by their accounting department.

Yeah i was solidly in the wait camp in 2015 but then inifiniti and BMW never really delivered on their rumored competitors. Considered i3 but didn’t have home charging at the time and the advertised lease deals were horrendous (I found out later you could get a much better price at the dealer, but WTF, put the real

Diving for off ramps has been a problem in earlier versions, and there was a bad update to the 2.0 cars that brought it back for a bit.

Also there was a long time where 2.0 was still catching up to 1.0, so this sounds entirely plausible, but i’m not sure you’d have the same experience with a freshly updated 3.

The

curvature tight enough you’d want to slow under 55mph
grade approaching 5% down.

The one time i had a moment it also had to actually pass a truck where the inside of the curve was occluded by the trailer so I could see from a while before that it was going to struggle and was ready for it.

This is one area where
