I did mention that this was to maintain a uniform thickness through the entire windshield, not just to make the whole thing thinner, though I can see why my musings about polycarbonate might have led you to believe I meant the whole thing being thinned instead of it being thinned on a gradient from top to bottom.

So, keeping safety in mind, if there a way to thin the windshield at those higher angles to keep a uniform thickness from edge to edge? Perhaps the use of polycarbonates would make this easier. Expensive, to be sure, but easier. And it’s Tesla - they’ve got NBC-rated filtration, why not a polycarbonate windshield?
