@Jdmcnuuugent: My thought is that the whole engine, gameplay and story was just a trial run for this game. Borderlands 2 will be where the story shines a bit more.

Great article. It's always seemed to me that the developer as a whole gets more recognition than the maker/author of the game itself, unless we're talking about something "indy" like Flow. I tend towards a developer or publisher that has put out games I liked before, like Rockstar, 2k or Bethesda.
