Shipping is a core element of fandoms, and has been since at least Kirk/Spock. No need to disparage people you don’t understand. The issue, as Purser herself said, aren’t shippers, but shippers being obsessed about their ships.

“Shipping” as a term has been around since like the 90s at least, and people were doing it as far back as original Star Trek...

The people who were angry about the whole Beronica kiss thing on the show weren’t angry because straight actors were playing LGBT characters. Rather they were angry that instead of featuring a moment that showed Betty and Veronica sharing an honest possibly-LGBT moment, the two characters only kissed to “shock”

What is a “tweet?”

My favorite antique shop find:

Me, defiantly:

“If life isn’t funny, then it’s just true and that is unacceptable.”

The livestream for this cut out yesterday, and I’m a ball of emotions finally watching it. My mom was close to Carrie’s age and also died really suddenly and way too young. Star Wars was such a bonding experience for us, so this memorial business gets to me!

The more I see video of her and Mark Hamill together I am pretty sure she jumped up an down on the wrong co-star back in 1977.

I read her speech last night and was bawling. I can’t bring myself to watch it.

Annnnd I’m crying again.

I’m still so cross that she’s gone. There was so much still left in her. The tribute is beautiful and I’m glad it wasn’t a whole somber, earnest, affair. There was sex jokes and her sticking her tongue down a fan’s throats and it was perfect. For me, I just burst when they showed the little girls dressed up as Leia.

Sigh yep exactly. Though we are screaming as loudly as we can so... Not exactly saying nothing but yes exactly.

I suspect that more than a few Americans have Muslim/gay/African-American friends,co-workers and think that they are “lovely people “, and then   because they personally know these people that that makes their friends/ co-workers honorary “white people”, so that they exempt them from their unspoken bigotry.

These are the types of people who want to shut the door behind them. And the hypocrisy is INFURIATING. Like my father in law who despite being a cop on Long Island and receiving the benefits of a very lucrative pension/health care/etc til he DIES doesn’t want the same for the people after him. Fuck them both on the

This is the type of thing that actually makes me defend Trump sometimes.

This perfectly encapsulates the GOP supporters voting against their own interests. “Well sure but I’m one of the good [women/immigrants/gay people/Muslims/etc] so obviously they aren’t talking about me when they explicitly say they want to harm my specific group.”

...Helen Beristain, who herself was a former undocumented immigrant from Greece...
