As I kid, I loved that Star Trek made action figures out of all its female characters. Obviously Paramount found that there was profit to be made in giving us multiple versions of Dax, Troi, Crusher and the rest. (Seriously - I had Dax in normal action wear and a back-in-time TOS miniskirt.) It almost feels like we're

It's actually the third season with that horrible marriage plot that's doing me in. (Recently discovered this show on Netflix and am attempting to binge watch.)

She's been cast as one of the leads in MTV's new Scream show. Good for the actress, bad for Arrow.

Mara Jade from the Zahn novels. I loved that the Emperor had an apprentice, and that his apprentice was this powerful, complex woman.

I have to go with John Crichton. He went from a man just trying to get home to his own object of mass destruction.

Love this list. I'm so happy you included not one but two Robin McKinley characters along with the always radiant Aeryn Sun. Also respectfully submit Mara Jade, who did her share of destruction as the Emporer's Hand.

I'd like to add Anastasia to this list (my favorite of the animated '90s films). Anastasia avenges her family against the evil Rasputin, sending him back to hell with a stomp of her foot. Then she dusts off her would-be rescuer and sails off into the sunset, an anonymous princess free to live her life as she'd like to

WB should be taking cues instead from Arrow - which uses humor incredibly well while still having plenty of super hero angst. And from the look of it, the new Flash will have a similar tone. I know CW gets knocked around quite a bit, but I love their DC universe much more than anything that's come out of the recent

Nothing to add, just wanted to say that your hangover description rang very true. (Though I like to think that I am now old and wise enough to hopefully never experience one of those again.)

Oh wow, he did indeed. Props for that. (But I still don't feel bad for taking his Reading Rainbow money.)

Special bonus: Seth Seth MacFarlane has promised to match a $1 million of donations (up to the $5 mil mark) so anything you kick in now will literally take money away from Seth MacFarlane. And this makes me feel good.

Wanted to report back: Halfway through the series and am in love. Totally a happy X-Files (with more Bohemian cohorts.) Thanks for introducing me to this little gem!

Yeah, I think referring to it as the rapture really does a disservice to the concept behind the book/show. The whole point is that people are gone - good people, bad people, innocent people and villains. And it's up to the ones left over to try to figure out what to do next.

Excellent, that's all I needed to hear. Officially purchased!

Is the Middleman any good? This is the first I've heard of it, but after some quick internet perusing it seems to be my sort of thing. And it's only $28 on Amazon. Wondering if I should take the plunge.

Here's a response from Robin McKinley back from when the project was first announced (the tl;dr version is that it probably won't get made, and even if it does, won't be anything like the book) http://robinmckinleysblog.com/2012/02/15/une…

Oh sweet, I'll have to check that one out. (It's been on my radar, just haven't gotten around to watching the show.)

Or my other favorite: the competing love interests. There will be two competent, attractive women on a show and all they want to do is destroy each other because they have the hots for the same dude.

One of the things that I think often gets forgotten or ignored by predominantly male writing rooms are female friendships. Since there are fewer women on screen, they're needed as a love interest or a foil to the (usually) male main character. As a result, so many movies are completely missing this fabulous natural

Yeah, I find it strange that so many people are treating X1 and X2 as if they still happened, and saying only X3 got erased. All we saw of current day was one cameo of the school and a few characters - above and beyond that all bets should be off.
