Which is why I said that it’s a bad idea.

The Queen is protecting and defending her son, an accused pedophile who was besties with another pedophile. Please keep that in mind every time a story like this comes up, especially if cute kids are involved.
Big Freedia is credited. Like, actually credited.
Yeah, it seems weird to treat his relationship to Dylan as nearly an aside.
Because even by Jezebel’s barely-existent standards, Lauren Evans is an exceptionally nasty and careless writer?
You didn’t even include the most ridiculous (imo) part of Iger’s response. Now I enjoyed Black Panther more than most Marvel Movies (which I’ve largely stopped watching because I felt like they were largely too samey with too many CGI-laden fights that made my eyes glaze over). So far I like Ryan Coogler as a director…
People watch the show because it’s funny. The learning from diverse opinions is a nice touch. But putting the onus on them as an educational show is like holding the Daily Show to the same standards as The NY Times.
I'm glad someone agrees it was blown out of proportion.
So, who in the media gets to decide what’s a sincere apology and what isn’t?
“Maron already called bullshit, saying that “the only thing that’s off the table, culturally, at this juncture—and not even entirely—is shamelessly punching down for the sheer joy of hurting people.””
It’s nice to read this. Then, of course, to read the next paragraph which discusses the fact that they had to apologize…
...these are the same people who don’t want to embrace alternative media (i.e., Netflix, Amazon Films, etc.)
He didn’t even do that, so stop. Do some reading.
She conflated it for sure. Anyone not a political junkie would have made that connection and she knew it, but not as much as Bernie knows it. Just how much has Bernie actually fought for m4a or universal healthcare before the last election? What does “fighting for” even mean to him? Because he’s done fuck-all but get…
I think she’s just making the point that that Bernie shouldn’t get ALL the credit for CHIP, because he may have fought for it, but it wasn’t his plan.
Hey Ashley! I get what you’re saying - and, in general, I think this story is great and really well-written. I’m quibbling because I think Tanden was throwing (deserved) shade at Bernie as someone who talked a big game as a Senator but didn’t actually do shit, whereas Hillary talked a big game and actually did shit.…
I think you’re being kinda unkind to Tanden. What she’s saying is that it’s weird for AOC to credit Bernie with CHIP - the program AOC says she specifically benefited from - when CHIP’s passage is really due to Hillary, who worked harder on defining both the actual radical content of the bill and on ensuring it had…
Back then, I don’t believe that’s what was meant by “...and rare.” It was that abortion is rare because birth control is excellent and freely available, sex ed is available to all, and only those who want to be pregnant become pregnant. No negatives attached to it.
I also think abortions should be rare, but in my world they are rare because everyone has access to free or very low cost, effective pregnancy prevention, and has age appropriate comprehensive sex education from preschool through high school. Both of these things reduce abortion rates. And if they fail, abortion…
Me too. This isn’t an uncommon opinion, is it? I want abortion to be rare, because every woman who wants contraception has a (free) IUD.
