Yeah I’m gonna go ahead and disagree with a lot of posters here:
This is a completely reasonable take.

I’m going to withhold my personal opinion until I play it, as we all should, but as an adult who grew up on JRPGs I love a good, long one (lol) as much as the next guy, but that means I have to pick carefully because I

Sounds more like Jerry O’Connell trying to find ways to deflect from the fact that the fact that his wife cheated on her ex and it’s not just a rumor anymore. People cheat. Women too. It happens. And it was years ago.

in before the chorus of “this is true journalism”

Its kinda ghoulish to uncritically report on leaks that where attained through ransomware. Articles like these are why these leaks are done in the first place, for clout.

God, can this article be any more callous? You have someone literally saying that a targeted mass harassment and bullying campaign against them led to them becoming severely agoraphobic and suicidal, and your reaction is “Well you didn’t REALLY get canceled! Suck it up, buttercup!

“When it comes to cancel culture, it seems like there are two different worlds. There’s the real one, where everyday people live, in which words and actions have regular-sized consequences. Then there’s the celebrity world, apparently ruled by McCarthy-esque forces wielding pitchforks, eagerly waiting to ruin powerful

What privilege exactly? If you want to repeat the “her dad was some big music exec” trope then I can point to the tons of sons and daughters of very famous musicians whose careers went absolutely nowhere. The closest I can think of was Julian Lennon and Jacob Dylan, both of whom were famous for all of one album.

Swift’s hyperbolic comments aside, cancel culture doesn’t have to work to be “real.” The reality of cancel culture is visible in the glee with which people back in 2016 wanted to take her down. People who don’t even listen to her music were jumping into the fray, eager for the chance to take someone more powerful than

I don’t mind the explorative nature at all, but I would love to have more tooly items return. Like, in some of those caves in TotK, I swear I would love to have a hookshot. Plus, while “being able to go anywhere from the get go” is kind of impressive, I would still like some ability-based Metroidvania-like gating here

Size/open world was never the issue with me for Breath of the Wild, and I’ve never seen that as anyone’s main issue. It’s the mechanics of BotW that I don’t like (crafting is a big one but far from the only one), and that have moved it away from the tight gameplay experience I’ve always enjoyed from Zelda. To me,

Thats a huge bummer for me personally... I respect that these games are like objectively impressive but man I just can’t get into them in the same way.

Welp. I guess that’s the end of one of my favourite franchises to me. I don’t particularly like open world games, didn’t like Breath of the Wild, and have been unimpressed with Tears of the Kingdom.

Guess I’m done with zelda 🤷‍♂️🥹

I’m mostly fine with this (although part of me will miss the more constrained previous titles, they were some of my favorite games ever and it’d be nice to have a good, tight, mid sized 25-35 hour game in the midst of tons of open worlds), I loved breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom has absolutely blown me

Really not a big fan of this. I didn’t really enjoy my time with BotW I always saw it more as a Zelda themed game without being an actual Zelda game.
And now after playing Tears of the Kingdom (I quit after 10 hours) just really drives it home that this style of Zelda game does not work for me.

All the dungeons are

Well, that’s a shame. I must admit, BotW just didn’t really jive with me. But I suppose the industry is always moving forward. Oh well.

Or how about both kinds of games…? Many franchises make multiple types of games.

Fuck. I miss the days when their consoles and handhelds were seperate and we would still get some classic top down action between 3d. Hopefully we still get some of those, even if its oracle remakes like links awakening.

Gross. These aren't Zelda games, just empty world games with Zelda skins slapped in. Absolutely BS what company is do to beloved franchises just to fit in with what's popular. Fucking Nintendough.

“Once again, you don’t need to infanitilize Europeans by pretending that they would be shocked and “horrified” by this. It’s literally common knowledge in Europe.”
