I'm curious: What if it's part of your job? There is a person who was hired to work under me, and I had no say in the hiring process. The person who was picked is awful in many ways, including that he's very unreliable- shows up late, doesn't do his job, etc. The boss knows this, but feels content to give "warnings."…
I've found the best way to avoid saying "Because I said so" is to re-phrase it as "Because you're the only person I can count on to do it right" or "Because I think you're the best person to give the task the attention it deserves"
It depends on why the person is unreliable. If it's because they procrastinate, or simply don't care, then you don't. Maybe he can do whatever you ask of him from 9-5 but needs to be able to completely check out at 5. Maybe the opposite is…
A couple of key rules:
Ever seen 5th element? They had pod rooms before deus ex was even around.
Apparently you live in your own little world, where pod hotels never existed before Deus Ex.
But were the countertops spotless?
It tried desperately to get away but that transition between over and counter would trigger it's wall sensor and make it turn. It's also programmed to not fall off ledges. That poor little roomba died because it refused to break the second law in order to save itself.
It was clearly exercising the zero law and sacrificed itself to protect humanity from sentient machines of which it was the first.
so ironically the Roomba by iRobot NOT 3 laws safe
I've... seen things you people wouldn't believe...Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those... moments... will be lost in time, like tears... in... rain. Time... to die...
Rest in peace little Roomba Batty.

Do you feel bad for the Roomba?
This is quite possibly the best story/headline I have ever read on this site.
