It has no basis under the Constitution or any legitimate legal framework.”

It’s also not a new story. I read an article on this (I want to say last year?) and she talked about how she came from a super privileged, wealthy background and her embarrassment over her participation in this ball. I’m trying to find it now but every page of google is dominated by this latest news.

There’s really not much of anything here. The headline and the beginning of the story made it sound like Erin from The Office was burning crosses and shit. Nope, she attended some corny debutante ball thing that has a racist past. Most of the US has a racist past.

Portmanteau, not conjugation ;-)

Everyone else does boarding wrong. Southwest is closest to ideal. It's always so damn fast too.

Southwest boarding is the smoothest quickest boarding in the industry. Everyone else does it wrong.

That is actually one of the things I *like* about SWA - pick any seat you want, no pricing games to not be stuck in the middle, back by the toilets. I’m more than happy to pay the little bit extra to be at the front of the line, and unless the airplane is completely full, nobody is going to willingly sit next to a guy

Agreed.

I hope they toss that woman in the klink and throw away the key. The full 20 years the statute allows for. Make an absolute example of her.

You hit the nail on the head Micah. I left college to become a chef’s apprentice in a very affordable old school work-education 3 year program. Back then the talk of the industry was all of these horrific schools that were charging people 100k to get a job at 12 bucks an hour (at the time, late 2000s Denver) as a

... and there is a whole industry built on ripping them off that is pissed that they don’t get to continue ripping them off.

Manual trades don’t require a college degree either. Neither does entrepreneurship. Yet both of those are hawked heavily (& college attendance is criticized heavily) by the same people who claim “unskilled” minimum-wage workers shouldn’t be paid enough to live on.

I was thinking of quitting my corporate job to go back to bar life/bartending because it turns out I hate my corporate job and miss bartending way more than I thought I would. But...considering that no authorities so far has the balls to *enforce* the masking laws, and the Great Unwashed are now punching out flight

What do you think “minimum” in “minimum wage” means?

No, it’s the workers who are wrong!

The speed with which a huge segment of our population—you know, actual human beings—went from unskilled labor to essential workers and back to unskilled labor was truly telling. And disgusting.

For all those who claim these restaurant jobs are unskilled labor, then why arent you working there? Kitchen work is highly skilled. Are you going to pay $25.00+ per plate for something made by an untrained teen? Do you want staff that isnt trained to clean the kitchen properly? Are you going to a restaurant where the

Because it’s an exception to federal minimum wage statutes, the hotel and restaurant lobby spends a fuck ton to keep it that way. And most states follow suit in their own minimum wage laws.

Let’s say the conservatives are completely correct and it’s just people staying home because unemployment benefits pay them more.

Imagine not wanting to return to a job that basically expects you to beg to get paid (poorly), offers no benefits, requires you be on your feet for hours, suffer any number of indignities from Karens and Chads, usually doesn’t guarantee you regular hours, and did I mention the pay sucks?
