Yeah, but nowadays... everyone and their cousin Vito can get on the parkways. Duallys should be banned from parkways. Also, in my opinion, there should be a 6000 lbs GVWR limit on parkway travel. Because I am a heartless bastard.

I was driving Boston->NYC on the Merritt last year, and I found a dumbass from Tennessee driving his loaded flatbed on it. I knew as the parkway turns from the Wilbur Cross to the Merritt, the overpasses get reallllly low like on LI. Unlike the dude in this video, I drove ahead of the truck and kept pace while I…
Although the change in the commercial/passenger plates rules (since the 90s) have let the vans and pickup trucks in. I think the rules used to be, the pickup had to have a cap to be on a parkway.
The overpasses on the parkways can take a missile strike and stay standing. They're pretty tough.
All of those overpasses have been rehabilitated in the past 10-15 years. They are built study, though. The stonework is really nice... but the stalactites are a little weird.
I was hoping it was a truckload of Twinkies. Tallahassee would be pissed.
Step one: Convert America to a forested, snowy land of gravel roads. All the roads lead to soccer fields, dog parks, or MTB trails.
It's stealing from the public. No other explanation needed.
Meh. There's a decent amount of people doing the Putnam to White Plains, New Haven to Stamford... The commuter rail lines would be even more useful if they worked on getting people to the jobs outside of NYC.
Of course, this 'inbound' rule is another example how NYC thinks the world revolves around it. Those outbound people... do you think they will all limit themselves before wobbling off the train and into their cars to drive? Probably the MTA just wants city-bound people to spend all their drinking money in the city.
*raises hand* Steel frame, composite tub/shell? Just make sure the crash structure has the proper design. Accident? Toss panel, bolt new one on.
I'm thinking this swap isn't as bad as it sounds. Perhaps the idea was to shift the weight balance of the car forward with the lighter engine. At the expense of less HP. What's the tuning potential of the 1NZ-FE engine? And what would less weight over the rear do to the handling?
Remember to check those head gaskets before the swap, kids!
There's plenty of airspace in the Pacific that the Russians can fly over without being antagonistic. But, they are choosing to point their nuclear bombers in the direction of American territory. Russian nationalists viewing NATO moves as offensive is like the latest Tea Party conspiracy theory: they're a wee bit out…
Tesla doesn't want to make its bread and butter from the Parts and Service department. They want to get their hands on that fried motor to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria are NATO and border the Black Sea. It's not a Russian lake. The NATO reaction in this situation is defensive deterrence, not offensive, like flying a Cold War nuke carrying relic across an ocean towards another country's border.
Just concentrate on getting the car around and enjoying the trip. Resist the urge to go 'hero mode' and it's all good.
The Northeast Corridor would be better served by having a dedicated track for high-speed rail, as the current rails go through twisties unsuitable for high speed. The rails for shinkansen are welded together and have tighter tolerances. This means less noise and vibration.
I despise the Prius. One reason is the lack of motivation from a stop. I guess I don't care as much about the size of the ICE, but the battery capacity and electric motor better be more powerful in the next generation.
He certainly put a lot of work into it, but I am not impressed with the result. It looks like randomness. Michael Bay's Transformers, for the most part, looked like crap.
