Class Action suit? About a wonky analog stick? From what it sounds like, Nintendo is offering to either fix the problem for free, or even go as far as issuing refunds to those who already spent money trying to get the problem fixed. If anything Nintendo is being a Class Act.

I’m always surprised people feel this way. I grew up on Nintendo D-Pads so I’m certainly used to them, and I still think that the four-button layout of the Switch is superior. I accidentally input the wrong direction quite frequently with a true D-Pad, pushing on the “right” direction but tilting it “up” on accident.…

I think getting free joy-con repairs is probably going to be of greater benefit to most consumers than waiting out for any class-action suit payout.

I believe its outrageous because at the end of the day this is a design defect not just a bad batch of controllers. All joycons have this issue and will fall susceptible to this eventually. This is a console thats only just been out a bit over 2 years.

Nah, when you make something that is commonly broken you often find a way to do good-will out of warranty fixes, even if that’s the customer pays for shipping and you repair it for free. Source: I worked for a small manufacturer who had some design problems with their first revision product. 

I had one of the original brick Game Boys as a kid and not long after it was out of warranty the screen started having entire lines of pixels dying. My understanding is that this was a common issue with some of the early models. Nintendo took responsibility and took care of all the charges for the repair and shipping. …

Not to mention that the NES and SNES controllers are still some of the most reliable gaming peripherals even 20, 30 years old! What happened to that build and design quality?

The controllers are fine. There’s some dust or dirt that got inside them.

Man, you’re so smart, of course not one person out of all the people experiencing this issue have tried to fix it with simple remedies. Or have tried cleaning it after taking it apart.  They’ve all just sat around and complained without researching the problem.
