Absolutely, but also EXACTLY why I took issue with the claim in the article that the way you and the author prefer it is clearly the RIGHT way. It's not. It's A way, and one some of us have good reason to hate. I'd far rather have a choice than this become the preferred standard.

Looks a LOT like the redesigned NES, actually.

Proper grammar matters EVERYWHERE. It exists for a reason: to ensure CLEAR communication between people. And in my experience it matters in text messages at least as much as anywhere else. I've had TWO relationships severely damaged due to my partner having poor writing/reading skills and either sending me messages

I have a Dell, but I have a Dell model that did not decide to give the middle finger to power users, so its volume controls are their own buttons, and the brightness up/down (which I use far, FAR less often than F5 and F2) are integrated into Fn+Up/Down, which is fine by me.

I guess comparing on an Epic 4G Touch (SII) may be throwing me off. I don't remember my Epic 4G (original Galaxy S) well enough to recall where it was placed, so maybe that made the difference. On the SII, with my hand as you state, and the base of my palm aligned comfortably with the base of the phone, it lines up

Since he described exactly what they did, I'm at a loss for what could be seen as sarcastic about it...

I can't seem to think of any way in which I'd hold my phone that neither my thumb nor forefinger (my phone's usually in my left hand, so forefinger) can't reach the button on the side more easily than the one on the top. I can't think of how you're grasping your phone that the top is EVER an easier place to reach. I'm

No, just seems to be an API clearinghouse of sorts from what I can tell. Worst thing that happened if they got hacked is people would have access to aspects of your account until you deleted the app permissions.

Yep, and that's bugging the hell out of me. I use the F# keys frequently. Making them more difficult to use than they used to be is NOT my idea of progress.

I'm with you. I'm HATING this new trend of dumping the F# keys to replace them with shortcuts I nearly never use.

I had a Samsung Galaxy S and I have an SII now. Both had perfectly fine placement on the side. Way better than the top.

I also use my Function keys heavily, and this new trend to force me to hit Fn to get back to F5, F4, F2, etc. is driving me NUTS. So no, Apple and HP and Dell aren't "doing it right," they're driving me away as a customer.

"It might surprise some of you laptop makers to know that people actually use these things in their laps."

No, it needs you to log into the site which then grants them API access. I never gave them my usernames or passwords.

I find the people proud of themselves for having never signed up for an account on such-and-such site even more hilarious.

No, they're not. If you used it you'd see it uses API access, not usernames and passwords.

A basic refresh gave me the rover. I think either the blimp shows up only the first time, or it's random.

Click or tap on Desktop. Done. I'm lost by why this is such a major issue.

Windows 8 is HEAVILY optimized for boot time. So yes, it does make a difference.

I doubt they free up the username. Just the space taken up by your user's characters. I'm sure you can log right back in with your user any time.
