ME2 had a good ad campaign in general. All the character videos were great.
Since we're dealing with a global scale, if it's winter in Europe and Japan, it would be midsummer in, say, Chile. You just have to imagine the Chilean apocalypse.
This reminds me of "The Last Night of the World" by Ray Bradbury. Since it's only four pages long, I went ahead and re-read it in its entirety. I remember that it really had an impact on me when I first read it at age 12 or so.

I'm kind of mad that it worked on me. It's so stupid. I said so aloud as it was happening. But it worked. I don't like that I'm easily manipulated.
Ask yourself: Do you really want to know?
Is it an overstuffed, staid monstrosity of a movie? Maybe. Will I pay to see more of that battle @ 0:50? Yes. Yes I will.
One Kickstarter campaign at a time, people! Don't forget even more people than the ones donating are going to have to actually buy the game for this to be a viable model.
