I have had "Show Desktop Icons" hidden for as long as I can remember. The only thing I want to show up there are mounted drives a'la Mac OS. Most Linux DE's do this, and I don't often mount drives to my Windows machine, so *shrug* - no icons. I'm very picky about my theme and wallpaper though, changing them more than
