True and fair point. No doubt my reaction is colored by my earliest bad memories which my older sister corroborate as happening at 4 or 5. I cop to projecting onto to a child that overall is probably living a darn good life.

Yup! My son did one of these for mother’s day in kindergarten, and he aged me up a year, listed my favorite hobby as hanging out with him, and that my favorite thing to drink was plain water. They’re like little stream of consciousness machines at that age.

You really have to take these things with a grain of salt. My youngest once wrote my job was “taking naps” (I was a teaching assistant at the time.) My favorite thing to do was ‘clean’. Typically that is how it is done, the teacher “interviews” the kid and then writes down the funny answers. It’s more a historical documentation of what the kid thinks at a particular age. Like asking them what they want to be when they grow up, or seeing how they view the world around them.
