And not just the poorest. Those ten line up with the US states that where fundamentalist christianity has the highest percentages. The lowest rates of obesity line up with the least fundy states, even where other religions are a majority.

Those states also have predominantly rural poverty, and since traveling to get food (often the nearest walmart) can be an ordeal which might require sharing a ride or borrowing a car people tend to buy non-perishables and stay away from fresh food with an expiration date.

I'm sort of confused by how the Doctor's anti-soldier views mesh, thematically, with his own status as a died-in-the-wool Dalek fighter. Maybe it's just supposed to be that he hates war — and all warriors, human or Dalek.

At pretty much every blogging job I've ever had, I've been told (by male managers) that it'd be a death sentence to moderate comments and block IP addresses, because it "shuts down discourse" and guts traffic. In NO OTHER PROFESSIONAL INDUSTRY is it acceptable to let your workers be subjected to repeated, targeted pornography and violence. I have NEVER worked a job staffed by the kind of people who would stand idly by — it would be one fat lawsuit after another up everyone's asshole and an HR nightmare, to boot.

I think banning gifs is the wrong precedent to set and allows Gawker to ignore the problem instead of doing what it takes to stop it.

For what it's worth, I want to apologize to our readers who are forced to interact with these violent gifs regularly.
