As a longtime Today viewer I’m not at all surprised. All kinds of rumors, especially in the past decade. On the other hand, if anything comes out about Al Roker I will truly be sad.

Friendly reminder, relationships between superiors and subordinates are presumptively coercive!

Somewhere Ann Curry is tap dancing.

Shout-out to Ann Curry!!! I hope you are celebrating wherever you are, hon.

I have to agree. It’s not ideal that this is what some people have to resort to, but it’s better than no option at all. The woman can only do so much work for free, and it’s unfair and hypocritical that people place such high demands on her that she be nothing but purely altruistic, as if the rest of us would be so

I’m Team Lee, too. It’s still normalizing the conditions by showing her audience, including people who may be hiding/ashamed of having the same conditions, that other people also have them (and shows her patients that many viewers have their same condition, too)... even if those conditions are being treated in order

I’ve gotten pretty good at identifying things from these videos too. I took out a tiny milia under my eye after watching a Pimple Popper vid (not saying this is the way to go but it was super easy once I knew what it was, thanks Dr. Lee!)

The fact that people can desperately want / need medical procedures and go without them due to the monetary cost is more disgusting to me.

As someone who has watched a goodly number of Lee’s Instagram videos, I disagree that they’re always “all about the pop” as the article contends. She excises a goodly number of cysts, etc., intact and will cut into them later, outside the body, to show an interested patient what was inside (surprise! dead, wet skin

I don’t watch these videos because I can watch this action in real life, every single day, in front of my mirror. But I WOULD watch if someone could please tell me how I, as a 33 year old, can prevent the constant growth of cystic acne. I’m on birth control, I have a strict face washing regimen that incorporates

This was my thought too. I recently had a to get a couple of bumps checked and removed. As an aside, thanks to Dr. Lee, I was very confident that they were a simple cyst and lipoma; my doctor was so confused that I wasn’t freaking out in her office over cancer fears. But to get them removed, I had to pay $900 out of

Yeah, same. As someone who has battled acne off and on since adolescence, seeing other people with the condition makes me feel like I’m not alone, and it is gratifying to see it being taken care of (and educational, honestly - like, the more people talk about acne and other skin conditions, the more I’ve learned about

“And is it possible to normalize a person with a skin condition when you focus solely on a procedure intended to remedy whatever they (or their doctor, or our beauty-obsessed society) deem is amiss?”

I’m with you. I’ve watched her videos and was surprised to read here that they’re considered exploitative. Many of her videos are devoted to ridding patients of blackheads, a practice she admits most dermatologists avoid since it’s time consuming and not medically necessary. For patients with an abundance of them,

Do you feel the same about medical research studies in which subjects with specific conditions are paid for their participation - when the treatment may not even do anything for them (or they may even be receiving a placebo)? Should doctors be required to forego payment for such (elective) procedures for patients that

I don’t know. I think she’s totally transparent and it’s a bit of a stretch to find something by which to be offended unless you really, really want to be upset about consenting adults giving permission for these procedures to be posted on the internet. Also, I’d argue that the amount of videos she posts pushes back

I’m with you and Dr Lee. I found her videos when my young nephew had a cyst and was freaked out. They helped him see it was normal and okay. Adults had them!

As someone with supremely fucked up skin on my feet and teenager like pimple growing acumen in their thirties, don’t you dare try and take away my cyst draining videos. I will burn this website to the ground.

Team Lee.

She’s right; she is normalizing something a lot of people are embarrassed about and therefore less likely to seek medical attention for. There’s nothing exploitative about this since (at least in the ones I’ve seen) the videos don’t ID the patient.
