Yes, PVPers did complain about shotguns and snipers. Especially shotguns. The small maps and player mobility lead many matches to devolve into shotgun battles. The issue with that was the perceived lack of skill in shotgunning since it didn’t require precise aim.

The entire game was sacrificed for better PvP and not everyone plays PvP but everyone has to interact at some point with the PvE. It was a stupid series of decisions to make their lives easier. I don’t know what game you are playing, but D2 PvP is horrific. It went from a maddening game mode to a maddening, frustrating chore. There is absolutely no fun to be had in the Crucible. It truly lives up to its name now.
