You're not so keen, are you?

*High Five*

Yeah, once I got abit older I was able to realise that as well fortunatly, and once I started 7th grade in a new town and school, I was slowly able to start laughing with the people giving me a hard time.

Here's the thing, though.
Many male geeks are understandably upset at being pushed and pummeled and bullied all their lives by the very same demographic of people who are now becoming geeks themselves simply because they've come to love the same things.
Many female geeks are understandably upset at being pushed and

It isn't 1997-8-9-'01-'02-'03-'04-'05 anymore. The people who want to be active participants in our culture today did not help you generate the baggage you carry from yesterday. It's not their fault.

I went to an all-girls school where my best friends called me a loser and a freak for being geeky and nerdy. I wanted to go to school with kids like you so I'd have people to play with. It hurts to see that you would have bullied me the way the cool kids bullied us both.

Please, just let us enjoy the same things that

Moments of weakness, when realized, help us gain great strength.

It happens to us all! It takes a big individual to admit to it, so props to you good individual!

Now those same people who threw the insults are coming back trying to be them, or hell some are even becoming famous for it with the dawn of youtube and the internet sharing age

Right? Like does it come with the fucking cat?

Amazingly there are more women in the world than went to your HS.

That's kind of the problem right? So many nerds were ridiculed and insulted for being themselves. Being trained that nerdiness and geekiness is something to be ashamed of. Now those same people who threw the insults are coming back trying to be them, or hell some are even becoming famous for it with the dawn of

Yeah, but time vs. money. *clicks link* I mean it couldn't possibly cost tha... WHA? $200?!

Don't pretend your experience is universal and there wouldn't be a problem.

I agree with that. Don't take my word for it, I'm just bitter. I'm one of those who got bullied so much I exploded and beat up the kid bullying me. Of course I waited 8 years of elementary to middle school ridicule to do so. But hey if you're running into folks who treat folks like your friends family whatever as

I did it for many years.
And when someone threw my Final Fantasy tactics book on the floor, I squirted lemon juice in his eyes and went on about my business.

For me, cater is kind of a strong word. I want studios to acknowledge that more women are gamers today then way back when, and just think a little about how their female characters are represented in their games. That is all :)

Yes because some nongamer girls in your school life are totally representative of ALL WOMEN EVER.

I hear more senseless verbal assaults or piggish remarks made towards my own female guildmates in Guild Wars 2 or Star trek Online than I do stupid or inflammatory shit from my female guildmates. You'd be surprised how many new recruits get kicked with in a week for being pigs. So, no, your response doesn't really

Try moving the "lol look at that loser and his videogames" to 1995 at the latest, because everyone and their grandma has been playing games since playstation. I knew plenty of girls in high school who played ps2 and dreamcast. By 2005 games were as entrenched as movies.

I'm sorry you went to a shitty school. You should have come to my school! We loved (and still love) video games! ^_^
