I should have reworded the 75% thing. When I was typing it, I guess I was thinking in terms of just Steam taking a flat 75% to be distributed amongst whoever is involved. My main point is that 75% wasn’t going to the modders themselves.

I’m not going to argue. You make valid points, although I still feel like mine can stand on their own as well. The community will ultimately decide which model is going to work. At the end of the day, we can both agree that modders shouldn’t be expected to give out work for free forever.

I honestly believe that gamers are some of the most socially disconnected people in the entire world. Like, people will argue with each other hard enough to get into straight up personal attack fights that lose all context over something like a strategy, balance patch, or some social issue.

I haven’t, and I personally never would because I find the practice fairly lame in either circumstance, though there are some hilarious jokes that come out of them.

I heard it was Valve 50%, modder 25%, and developer 25% with a sales threshold to pass before payment was rendered. Either way, the amount anyone other than the modder gets is inconsequential.

I heard that modders had to pass a certain sales threshold before they were even paid at all, but I can’t substantiate that claim. I also heard that Valve’s cut was 50% while Bethesda took 25%. 1. People were charging outrageous prices for shit mods. If people think they can get away with it, it’ll drive prices up. It always does, in any market.

I feel like modders should get payment for their work, that being said, I’m glad Valve did this. If there’s going to be paid modding, it can’t just be dumped into the fray like this. I have a few suggestions that I feel are fair.

Alright, FFX is my favorite game ever but not even a fan that foams at the mouth as much as I can defend that stupid ass outfit. Though I’m pretty sure the things on his left arm are part of his Blitzball gear.

Never played the first two but I loved every minute of 3. SO4 had a horrific plot with mostly awful characters but the battle system was so good I didn't even care.
