Aw, I still love that part lol. I just wish people were able to mod those games to make them harder. The difficulty spike may be insane at the end if you're not super leveled or using a cheesy strategy, but the first 90% of the game is ezpz.

I usually do a self-destruct if the opponent just straight obviously fucks up. It keeps the match interesting, though I'd never fault someone for not doing it, or if they didn't do it after I accidentally self-destructed.
