Except... the provision for allowing the sale of insurance across state lines (as in Ochre Ogre’s health plan) is designed to undermine that power. Insurance companies flock to the states with the least regulation and soon you can’t buy a “New York State” health care policy any more.

I lived in Ithaca for two years, then again for five. Although it was a quarter century ago, I recommend it. Recreational opportunities abound, (beautiful lakes and gorges, boating, bicycling, hiking, state parks) and the political culture is very “alternative”(as in, not .alt)
