Not really. Maybe 20 MPH? I just didn’t slow to a crawl, like any rational person would.

What drives me crazy is just that it seems to be new, as in the last two years or so. I have already given up on “less” vs. “fewer”, and yet the slide continues.

Once or twice I caught air driving down Buffalo Street in Ithaca NY at the place where it levels out to cross Stewart Avenue. Not on purpose. It’s just Buffalo street.

Also, could we do something about people who write “the amount of people”?

You can still buy enough parts to basically build one from scratch. I laughed at the bondo on the fender, since fenders are cheap and bolt on in a few minutes. The rust at the base of the windshields a problem, since that is part of the central core of the body, and would have to be cut out and new metal welded in.…

My brother and sister in law did that with an abandoned house. Took about a dozen years.

One worthwhile step to prepare for winter is to clean the inside of your windows, or at least the windscreen. In winter you drive in the dark a lot more, and a clean windscreen will diffract a lot less glare. Also a clean windshield will defrost faster.

A batterie heater blanket works wonders for starting my TDI at -40 degrees, which we occasionally see here in Ottawa. It doesn’t have the benefit of reduced engine wear or instant heat that a block heater or Webasto (can you still get those?) would give, but it’s cheap, and only uses 85 watts.

Our long national nightmare is only beginning.
