Mobile phones are killing mobile gaming devices. The only thing keeping the Ds afloat are 1st party titles and the rare 3rd party title. If Nintendo released their games on android and iOS Ds would stand no chance at all. They would make a lot more money and wouldn't have to support the hardware anymore but why not…

I'm not sure it was by accident. You are basically rewriting memory blocks so you can "warp" to a certain location. Id bet someone actually went through the code and figured out what needed to be done to get to that location.
