Oh, yeah there were some major avoidable fuck-ups in these piece. For. Sure. But I’m also wondering about other stories that may be similar, where the subject may be telling the truth, but also large organizations are not dumb. In college I lived within 5 minutes walking (or less) of 4 large frats and got to know them

Thanks for answering! Follow-up question (kinda related to this case but also my own wondering): when you try to verify things, and say the person is very shady or evasive or immediately threatens legal action, when does that become an issue (or how do you get around it)?

Question for journalists out there: How do you verify or fact-check a story like this? I can come up with 1. hospital records 2. rape kits but given the appalling state of things in our country (all those “lost” rape kits, the fact that a lot of people don’t get the help they need or go to the authorities) it seems

I think one of the most annoying parts of this case (as an UT Alumni) was fucking having to explain the CAP program to everyone.

My boss is like that! His middle name is “S.” Just S, nothing else. We thought he was messing with us when he said his middle name was just “S” after we tried to guess what it stood for.

That’s my point - if someone answers “That’s not any of your business,” then you know they are a gun owner, most likely irresponsible

I think your outrage has blinded you from the tone of my comment, which is if they give that answer, you pretty much know they’re not a responsible gun owner.

“That isn’t any of your business”

I mean, who does it serve to put drunk drivers in jail? They didn’t mean to kill anyone and they’re probably really sorry about it! They fucked up and we’re doing what they thought was best at the time, amirite?

Yeah but also more than half the world were once their colonies

Man, I think you’re making a big assumption that Bernie Sanders voters will be staying abreast of international news

The source says “it looks like” but it doesn’t seem like they are 100% sure that’s what happened.

Actually, you make a really good point on Bayley. I totally forgot that he wants to trade blow jobs for cheeseburgers (and I still think that’s rapey) but I haven’t seen anyone else touch on that.

I agree with that - I just don’t know if I like how the writers are spinning it. Like spending all that time with sad Coates and him explaining his feelings and making him this super sympathetic character all of a sudden...there is so much prison guard rape (Daya and Bennett) spun as possible love in this series and I

My guess is because she doesn’t really believe she’ll ever get her daughter back.

Man, sending that to my sister (WHO HATES PIPER. Like after Poussey died, she was like why couldn’t it have been Piper. I’m ready for her to go.).

I think my comment was Kinja-eaten, so repost:

I am not sure how I feel about Coates/Doggett - For some reason OITNB likes to play fast and loose with statutory rape (no matter how badly Coates feels about it, STILL RAPE DUE TO POWER DIFFERENTIAL).

Nagel now confesses that he is indeed married, adding that his wife is “livid,” and “she’s been yelling at me a lot.” But he maintains that their relationship hasn’t been romantic in years.

The first thing I thought of when I read the description (not saying that it is or isn’t, just from reading) was that this woman sounds very similar to Suzanne. She could possibly be very “smart” (Suzanne is a wealth of information) but may still have the mind of a child.
