Dude!!!! Or Dudette! thank you for putting this out there! it's a shame i never thought to explain it myself. On top of that, you did is so succinctly!

Just a little insight into how a lot (not all) of "clone" companies start/exist in china:

Each year, annually [read: end of contract] major companies and corporations alike will house what is know as "manufacturer bidding" for whatever it is they need made - be it a part or an entire product between multiple factories.

Yeah. Good point. But even there, I really couldn't tell that such a sophisticated system could so easily be overloaded. Maybe some short scene where they both have to mutually bypass a major security code to turn off the limiters or something. The whole thing just flowed from one scene to the other without much

this has nothing to do with overtaking, vs not overtaking, anyone.

I think the only reason it happened was that it was very deep snow - like the deepest I've ever seen since we have lived here. This was in 1996, I think? And I was so small, so compared to how tall I was this snow was just overwhelming.

The light has to be placed precisely, or the illusion won't work (as much).

Wow, these basalt columns looks like the remains of a ancient fossilized city, like some kinda post-apocalyptic archaeological discovery thousands of years from now. I can even picture the headline

This happened to me when I was 5! Our first winter in Ohio after moving from Florida. I was out in the snow for an hour before anyone noticed I was missing. Once I realized I couldn't climb out I just chilled there. Thankfully I was basically dressed like Ralphie (full snow suit and everything).

I think the double helix as elucidated by Watson and Crick based on Rosalind Franklins work should definitely be recognized as one of the most important scientific visualizations:

The words that go with this picture are just as powerful:

Not sure if this counts but this has to be the gold standard for informative charts:

I've always been a fan of the Geologic Time Spiral. (Full size image)

I know a lot of folks will probably go with the "Blue Marble" or "Pale Blue Dot" images, but I don't think either of those really put our universe into perspective for me quite as much as the Hubble deep field images. I mean, they took a tiny section of what appeared to be completely black space, pointed a camera at

Is this what you meant to post? The image you posted isn't displaying what you describe as the thatcher effect.
