Also, if you classify fish monophyletically (by shared ancestry) instead of paraphyletically (by shared characteristics) than humans are technically fish ;-).

Now now, I would be right by your side calling Bendis a hack (preferably to his face), but Netflix’s Jessica Jones was the best of Netflix Marvel and she is great in The Defenders.

Not really a put down, but I loved when mass destruction started happening and Matt got down to cover Jessica and she just said, “Dude, get off me!” (or similar)

She saved New York with her Metro card, she earned it.

Don’t forget that line when she’s fighting of the Hand stalking the architect’s family “Am I the only who doesn’t know karate?” (or something similar)

Okay yes I was kind of wincing every time she pulled something out of where it was supposed to be because users never put stuff back in the right place.

The best literal put down has got to be her driving into the restaurant with the car to knock down Elektra

I absolutely love the MCU but after almost a decade of crazy shit going on how is any character surprised by anything anymore? Danny talks about punching a dragon in its heart to get his powers and everyone thinks he’s insane. THERE WERE FUCKING LEVIATHANS FLYING DOWN THE STREETS OF NY. How are the people of this

Hers were the best, but Foggy’s “Super Joan Jett” comment got me too.

When I was waiting for Defenders I told people that all I wanted from the series was for Jessica to tell everyone what idiots they were. It delivered. I am happy.

They had a CARD CATALOG. It made my history-degree-having heart glad.

I kind of felt like Jessica was there to say what the audience was thinking.

“It’s your scarf”

You have to remember Jessica is the only person who’s not there because they’ve got some lofty idea of their purpose. It’s basically:

I’m 5 episodes in and so far Jess’s quips are my favorite thing about the show. Especially when she tells Matt nonchalantly “You look like an asshole” with her scarf wrapped around his head.

The line she delivered that I laughed at the most was actually this:

Woman answering door: “What time is it?”

Jessica: Late. Or early, depending on your life choices.

The high-waisted dress was a revolution in comfortable women’s wear. Previous to this, women were corseted all the time, wore panniers, powdered hair and/or towering wigs (hair powder was notoriously itchy, and elaborately coiffed hair was only rarely washed).

The Georgian and Regency era styles were liberating.

Comfort is exactly why I applaud this era for fashion. Regardless of whether or not you appreciate the look, you have to acknowledge the freedom and lightness it allowed women after centuries of being insufferably buttoned-up and weighted down.

What I love a good empire waist! What do you have against regency ladies fashion? Granted it’s not as dramatic as the panniers of the Georgian era or the giant hoops and bustles yet to come but those dresses look comfortable and elegant!
