Can we start calling these people what they really are: “Anti-Christians”? They do literally the opposite of everything Jesus taught.

I’ve lost count of the number of women I’ve spoken to during the pandemic who have expressed joy at no longer being randomly asked by strangers to smile. It’s astounding.

I’m not sure when exactly this trend truly took off—I blame The Witcher 3’s “Gwent”—but every expansive open-world RPG these days apparently has to feature an in-universe board game of some sort.”

I’m torn. I want it on PC, but after playing the first game on PC and enjoying it so freakin’ much, idk if I want to wait multiple years for it to get re-released. If the worst case is I support the devs twice for making a great game, I guess there are worse things.

It’s not solely a problem with Horizon Forbidden West, nor is it a problem limited to video games. You see it across popular genre fiction these days, as everything from Star Wars to the Marvel Cinematic Universe doubles down on plot over people, going so far as to fill in backstories for enigmatic characters who

Exactly it’s easier to make him “The Master Chief” and all the others just Spartans and have the general non-gamer audience get it, than to try to go into a bunch of names and lil details to try to get non-halo gamers/readers to understand it...

To be honest the marrying of vampirism to Catholicism is returning to the well so to speak. Vampires coming back from the dead is a play on Christ’s return from the dead, and the whole obsessions with blood is a play on the sacrament whereby people eat and drink the body and blood of Christ.  I think Mike Flanagan did

Both and neither.

This is why America needs ranked choice voting. The sooner you have ranked choice voting, the sooner smaller parties and independant candidates will become more viable in local government, and then later national government.

They will start self censoring essential character traits like Kerrigan’s bone high heels! Where will it end?!

I’m a big fan of James’s podcast, One Shot, where he plays one time sessions of different RPGs with an ever-changing panel of guests - sometimes full games, sometimes weird avant-garde micro-games like this one. If you’re interested in the subject matter, I highly recommend it.

IDK why A Memory Called Empire is polarizing I thought it was one of the best reads in a while?  Was there something I missed?

Reads a story about a series, is shocked that the series is talked about. Jesus Christ.

The first book was maybe my favorite book of 2019 (I liked it more than Gideon the Ninth!) and I am so damn excited for this sequel. Just a tremendous concept, with a really delicate exploration of how our cultures effect our politics and behaviors.

“The Republic couldn’t ask for better soldiers, nor I, a better friend.”

I don’t know.
