I played a ton of D2 and yet still enjoy D3.
I dunno. I think D3 is an amazing game and I've had a blast with it for many, many hours. I think it's the ever increasingly jaded gaming community that has changed more than the company itself.
Another good hint is: Identify time in your life where gaming would not conflict.
I play almost exclusively RPGs but I still limit my time. What I do instead is not really worry about how long the game takes. So what if it took me six months to play through Dragon Age 2?
For me the addicting is not the problem so much as any required committment.

I think a modern isometrics Fallout would look more like the single player missions in Starcraft 2 and not this...which looks as old school as it is emulating.
