I have really no sympathy for this girl at all. She is contributing to the problem by going along with it. Had she taken at attitude of "I want to make it, but not at the cost of my dignity" I'd have cheered for her. But she took at attitude of "OK, I want to make it so I will whore myself for the hope of fame" and

Japanese gamers prefer a bunch of Japaneese games. How utterly...not surprising in the least. How shocking from a country of folks that seem to have an unhealthy destain for anyone that is not themselves.

I very much wanted to have sex with Lara Croft but only when she was also Angelina Jolie. In fact, I still want to. In fact, regardless of whether she is Lara Croft or not.

You have no real understanding of how tech companies work.

I don't see it as proof Valve is not supporting. They would be supporting if the product was a net positive for them. When this box was announced this very site reacted with an overwhelming "meh, what is the point of this overpriced thing?" Value clearly saw this. Xi3 proceeded anyways and did so in a disingenuous

Kickstarter: The place to go for funding when your idea does not have enough merit on it's own to convince actual investors who do due dilligence.

Valve has no relationship with them. They had one, yes. But they do not have one now and Xi3 proceeded without any sort of blessing. I've worked in enough tech companies to be able to read between the lines here; Xi3 created a steaming pile of crap and Valve didn't want it.

You don't understand. You have to get into a game exec mindset:

Xi3 is clearly trying to market this in a deceptive fashion. I have no sympathy for them.

Hey, it's comfortable up on my high horse. Don't make me uncomfortable with easygoing rational and nice opinions!

The fact that it is so continually playable is exactly what makes it good. Some things come and go but classics stick around.

So, 'splain me how this is in any way Valve's fault? This is some company who worked with Valve at one point, doesn't now, and yet is trying to release a product in a bait-and-switch manner leveraging off of Valve's name recognition.

So Valve explored working with these guys at one time in the past; they could not deliver what was needed, and now they are trying to capitalize on Valve's name anyways. That is my read-between-the-lines take-away from this.

I lose respect for him knowing this. Obvious talent, and he makes a career out of....that?

Wait, what? Admitting you were wrong? This is the Internet! We don't take kindly to people being polite or courteous around these parts! (No problem; I have my bad-day posts too!)

About 25 years ago I interviewed for my first out-of-school fulltime job as a computer programmer and was offered a job on the spot. At the time an average starting salary was somewhere between $20K and $30K.

That top screenshot doesn't look like Star Wars at all. It looks very generic-shooter.

I tried a number of times to take advantage of this. I hope it does become available again.

I'll agree that it stands apart from the badly written games, in that it was not badly written...

You really need to add StarCraft into the list and not just Brood War. Without it this timeline is not really valid as it is arguably the single most important entry.
