I think it's probably hard for folks who have never had a newborn to understand this anxiety. I literally could not sleep at night unless I could hear breathing through the baby monitor. Even then I'd still go in and check all the time. It's terrifying.

I read the first few comics that I got hardbound last Xmas and I found them very entertaining but ultimately not nearly as well fleshed out as the TV show characters. You just have more that you can show in an hour show's worth of footage vs. several dozen comic panels. I like both, but for what they are.

I think that this is WAY overthinking it. When someone uses the word "mankind" I believe that in 99%+ of the cases they truly mean men and women. If that is what they mean then that is what they mean.
