@danimal4326: I agree completely. But I just scrolled down so I didn't have to watch flying words.

@Settings: At this point I'm playing devil's advocate, but I should point out that the product is probably mostly made up of aluminum, plastic and rubber, I believe. All of them are incredibly cheap raw materials - $100 was likely a (very) high estimate for materials cost. It's how those materials get shaped into

@Hvedhrungr: Possibly, but then you don't get any adapted focus controls - I believe that's what a lot of the mess here seems to be. After that it's just a rig that allows you to hold the camera differently. But honestly I'm not sure how much easier/harder the moved controls are to use, as I've never used a setup

@Settings: Looking at the product pictured, the materials likely cost roughly $100. But materials have little to no significance to a product's MSRP. There are far too many variables that go into it to even discuss it on a blog comment without seeming pedantic.

@Settings: The materials for an underwater housing are not anywhere near worth the money for what you pay, but it's not about the materials - it's about the product doing its job reliably, comfortably and predictably. That's what you pay for.

@Hvedhrungr: The simpler solution would be to buy a camera made for video production. But because the cost on those is high and the quality of the DSLR video functions is very good, you adapt the tool to fit the need.

@Settings: If you use a DSLR as a tool to make movies, then rigs like this are very much worth the price. You get controls found on cameras much more expensive, and since DSLRs aren't designed to be video tools from an ergonomics standpoint, other changes must be made (like moving the focus tool).

@NuevoLeon aka MiRod407: Can't fault a guy for feeling generous. I haven't approved anyone in a while!

@technologiq: The faster you go, the more difficult it is to increase speed. I believe James May commented about the Bugatti Veyron that it only uses 250 horse power to get up to ~150mph, but needed the remaining 750 to get it up to 250mph.

@coffeelover15: Don't forget who let you in when you make it big in the Gizmodo commenting circles.

@smcallah: While I wasn't being wholly serious (really, who says 'bozo' when they're legitimately angry?), I still didn't appreciate it. What you're recommending as a solution is that I avoid any and all discussion about a show I enjoy. I opened a thread about Jesus failing to continue past season 2, and I find

@aek8: Hey bozo, mind not spilling any damned details about season 5? Or at the very least, place a *Spoiler Alert* at the beginning of the post.

@PaddyLocke: Understandable, but just know that texting won't save your ass when you're in the presence of said lady. It's a partial solution to a problem that could be solved in much more complete ways.

@cinnamonster: Talking is mentally stressful to you? I think it's one of those things that gets easier the more you do it - finding difficulty and stress with it is probably a sign that you need to go out and experience the world and its inhabitants more often.

@tooji: How can moving your fingers thousands of times while having no possibility of conveying emotion accurately be easier than opening your mouth and letting sounds escape? Those mouth sounds are faster, more communicative, and more connective than any text will ever be.

@AFweatherguy: Then you're still bragging about what you bought. It's okay to enjoy cars, just don't shove it in other people's faces.

@nachobel TOTORO!: I concede to this example being of utter necessity. This and a General Lee.

@hurbieta: Still doesn't justify the "Look at my car" profile picture described in the comic. Though there are always exceptions, I haven't seen one used in situ.

@TRIbred: I'm not sure if I've ever encountered anybody who took a picture of their commuter car. I think I would feel quite indifferent, but I know it wouldn't be disgust!

@hurbieta: Unless you have the world's rustiest shitbucket, or you made each part with your own two hands, I don't care what you own.
