One visible trend is cost cutting and over reliance on touchscreen. VW latest choice in making everything done by screen ruined good cars. I actually wanted to buy one and after spending 5 minutes in car, I even refused test drive, it was that bad.

I am actually wondering if there is study that shows have such

electricity taxes do not go to road infrastructure.
But in many cases, registration/gas funds don’t go to dedicated account but rather general slush fund for government to mismanage.

Either way, there is no truly “fair system” without excessive tracking of people’s habits. Flat fee will hurt those drive least, per mile

Do they still offer lifetime warranties? Considering how unreliable new cars over certain age, it doesn’t sound economical for automakers anymore

This
USA is probably only developed country that issues licenses with practically little to no training. There is no culture on the roads and everybody things they are kind of the road.

Then of course, poor infrastructure and general anti-(traffic)-police sentiment by both pedestrian/bikers/drivers

Just curious, why call it truck? Looks like Australian Ute (which I would love to have here)

I remember one dealer pulled something similar on my ex. She bought used BMW at some dealer in NY, CPO and all that. At least that’s what she was told. When I brought it to closest dealership, they had nothing in the system. When called selling dealership, they just said that it was “remaining factory warranty” with

I always had a sweet spot for S4 Avants (but I don’t think they brought any in B8 chassis). When I lost my A4, I had a choice of S4 and Golf R and ended up with VW because of utility.
I do miss Quattro (article doesn’t mention is it True Torsen we loved or fuel efficient Haldex (or something else).
Did we ever got RS4

Either we need tolls everywhere or some system to offset usage.

It is all about money. Since manufacturer offering is trash and cannot compete with “free” from Apple/Google.

I find it often annoying that there could be available space for cops to park, but they often take meter spots, put their plaque because they are more convenient. Same cops give you tickets.
But biggest insult is judges. They also have their cardboards, park wherever they want, so they can uphold your fine for missing

Just when you thought it cannot get any worse. Now youngest buyers can reject the design with toddler tantrum and cries

haha, I sure did!

Yet VW can make each brand feel unique enough. SEATs are beautiful, Skoda is cheaper but not “cheap”, yet practical. VW is VW, Audi is Audi.

I have a brilliant idea, since MTA is so focused on Manhattan, why not tax Manhattan business (including real-estate / investment properties) and have transpiration services free or cheaper to riders.
I seriously doubt fare evasion can be fixed and that by itself is not small amount:

I actually don’t mind taxing uber/lyft, I see so many TLC plates in the city and traffic is horrendous. If too pricey, people can take bus/train.

Honestly, these kind of fees should be built into price of the car. I don’t think I have a choice with “destination charge”. Can I just go to factory and pick it up?

And then dealers add so many non-optional silly charges, documentation, DMV, detailing, air freshener on mirror fees

I am actually looking for new car and physical buttons is actually a must have.
It is actually quite difficult to find decent luxury vehicle that is not just bunch of tablets on dash.

It still looks cheap. The design language of ID line feels aimed at drastic changes for sake of changes and not for practicality or efficiency. Kinda reminds of what BMW did with their i3, but at least that car had performance and price to make it worthwile

Every car should have backup noise generator, like big trucks have it. White noise is not too disruptive and somehow easier for pedestrians to pick source (i heard them at construction sites).
Even when I was on one military base, we had to honk once before we backup. Yet that was before cameras were popular.

I wish there was a solution, I cannot count how many times I was actually blinded by either oncoming car or one behind me. If momentary loss of vision could come at time when kid runs in front of the car and results could be catastrophic.

At least I liked adaptive headlights in VW that automatically turned on
