I have limited dev experience so I came to learn some time ago that a bad game is more complicated than: "This game sucks!". That said, the only valid criticism that can be leveled at dev directly is either a failure of imagination, acting in bad faith, avarice or, in the case of AC:U or H: MCC, all of the above.

It's not that people can't wait and conduct due diligence before they make their purchase, it's that publishers aren't being forthright about what they're selling in hopes that they can trick as many people as they can into buying their product before learning it's not as advertised.
