Nope, I didn't. I suggested that it's easy to feel a certain way when you are used to being portrayed a certain way in media. It's no secret that the majority of games out there are starred in by white, straight male protagonists. Ergo - it's easy for a white, straight male to feel like there is nothing wrong with the

No - it means that he probably has a slightly more difficult time understanding what it's like to not be represented by the vast majority of characters in popular media.

Not everything has to be an overt "LOOK AT THE OBJECTIFIED WOMAN! ISN'T IT AWESOME" type message. There is subtext, and context.

Spoken like some who probably hits a few of the main buckets for characters with agency. Some combination of white, male, and straight.

You seem to be misunderstanding how the sheer volume of things effects the perception of people. You're right, most people aren't actively going "HAH! This stripped is being treated like a sex object. I love when women are basically lamps with tits" - but it does normalize women being nothing more then background

Symptoms instead of the disease? Symptoms being the shitty treatment of women in games.. and I assume the disease would be sexism?

I don't think you can discount the contribution bad writing has to this. A lot of stuff is just because game writers aren't paid as much, don't get as famous, and so, obviously, just aren't as good.

The amount of people supporting this "whiteboylaflare"on twitter is revolting.

Artist Joe Phillips has a different take on Wonder Woman:

Nebezial at deviant art does my personal fav version of her. She's still got curves, but is a bit more imposing a figure.

Eh, these are nice, but I've always been partial to H.G.Peter's designs.

One of the most underrated FF title to be released. It is one of my favorites. I wonder how it would look in an HD remake...

I think in order to change society you have to change the products of society or the cultural artifacts of a population. You can't just pull up your bootstraps and say: "well, I'm off to change society!" Changing society as a whole?! What does that even mean? Surely you understand how society changes over time.

This has been the case for centuries, of people "telling writers how to create their story". Why did Arthur Conan Doyle bring back Sherlock Holmes from the dead? Fans wrote him asking him to do so. Why did Charles Dickens rewrite the ending to Great Expectations? Because initial readers were unsatisfied with the

Good article Totilo, " shoehorning " (as you guys say) a character trait or a stereotype into a story is bad, if the writer wants to make a story about characters who happen to be gay then they should make a story about humans who happen to be gay, not gay characters that talk about cocks all the time and flip their

Except that 1) Art is not divorced from its social context, quite the opposite and 2) Businesses are bigger than artists and put millions of dollars into their shared worlds.

Ah, the old argument that the writer is writing what they write because they're just trying to get clicks. Yeah, a succinct, non-histrionic headline and a bunch of reporting mixed in with argument sure are the telltale signs of a writer who doesn't give a damn about what they're saying and is just cravenly farming

Thank you for your attention to this, and your dedication. So many people are "tired of it", either because it's just not relevant to them—or maybe some rare few, because they're guilty of contributing to the problem. I do believe that change can happen for the better, and with people like you, sites like this,

"How long is your game?" That used to be the tough one. That used to be the question a video game creator could

Nintendo doesn't *have* to do a thing. They are indeed free to make a game with their 'values' of what marriage is. But we are free to judge them for it.
