Battle Royale was a novel before it was a film and manga.

Having all of the players start in a plane/flying device to drop out and parachute onto the map was not in Battle Royale or Hunger Games and is unique to PUBG in the BR genre as far as I’m aware.

At absolutely no point in the movie or book Battle Royale do the students jump out of an airplane to choose where they will start during the game. The second installment of Interdimensional Cable is what I would call the weak episode. Just didn’t have the same magic the second time around, and Jerry’s b-plot wasn’t the best.
