That scene was Rey going to the Dark Side for answers. It showed her that on the path of the Dark Side, her parents aren’t important, her friends aren’t important, Kylo Ren isn’t important, all that matters is her. Because that’s the whole point of the Dark Side.
Death sticks are actually different than Earth cigarettes. While cigs are pretty terrible for you, death sticks are both way worse for a person’s health and they don’t even give the buzz of nicotine. It’s literally just a death stick, all it does is poison people.
