I was in the CAOC (combined air & space operations center) in Qatar and helped plan the 1st strikes into Syria.

That’s not really true. The real problem with the F-35 is that there aren’t enough F-22s. The two aircraft were designed to work together, with the F-22 filling the air dominance role, and the F-35 working as a deep strike fighter also capable of self escort, recon/ELINT, and CAP. A role it is very well suited for.

Headlights go up. Headlights go down.

There was an interesting article on 538 recently about the psychological differences of being uninformed vs misinformed. Uninformed people respond to facts by learning. Misinformed people react to facts by backing themselves into a defensive posture and screaming about liars rather than deal with the emotional aspects

The water bottle is there to cover the rips and/or rot in the door panel. either that or it’s daily driven and the guy only uses the passenger door. Either way, bad news.

Assuming that negative camber applied to vertical stabilizers, as seen on the SR-71 increases stability, while positive camber as seen on the F-18 decreases stability, then they are properly applied!

In the above photograph, we clearly see the Unit Identification code of SR-71A 64-17963* painted in “blood red,” with the unique tail stripe of the 1st Reconnaissance Squadron, 9th Reconnaisance Wing, Beal AFB, California. The 1 RS is the oldest USAF flying unit, tracing an unbroken lineage to the 1st Aero Squadron,

oh, every bomb dropped hits something.

“but super duper more effective than WWII (or even Vietnam) targeting systems that required carpet bombing strategies for dumb bombs.”

Stop posting your bullshit “I’m on a watchlist now” links.

Yeah, except all that is bullshit propaganda. I don’t care what targeting technology is on the aircraft, dropping a dumb bomb from high altitude isn’t going to hit anything, unless you’re dropping them by the thousand.

Half the ladies I know completed puberty in a mere 90 minutes because of that bulge.

I’m just picturing a coroner looking down at you, shaking his head in weary resignation and muttering, “When, oh when, will these kids learn?”

I think that no-helmet laws are just fine, as long as they come with mandatory organ donation attached to it.

What’s the confusion?

The measurement choice was to piss off the Republicans

I don’t know if it was totally a fake out. If they would have focused on the land border, we would have landed the Marines.

It’s called the “XCV,” or “CVV,” or “through-deck cruiser.” Not the first time it’s been suggested, and it’s due to come up again.
