It looks like $5,000 is the over/under for a Corolla with 100,000 miles on it. I was going to say just buy a fking Corolla but I like PGeorge’s point that a Matrix is basically a Corolla with a hatch. That is undeniably a better deal, assuming it doesn’t take some added gremlins to get them down to $5k.

Yep! That describes me, and the Supra became cool(er) right around the time I stopped paying attention to cars. You’d never turn your nose up at one, but the GT-R or the NSX had FAR more cachet as aspirational cars.  and one of those wasn’t even sold in the US. Tom - Yes, a black SUV fits in pretty much any luxe scenario. I hate them, and the questioner sounds like he does too. But no VIP would blink at one on the tarmac. I’d go with a black Tahoe just for a little more of the “I’m picking up Kanye” look.
