I had to click on the [+] next to the incompatibility warning to see "This item cannot be installed in your device's country." It's appearing for all three of my VZW Android devices - HTC Incredible, Galaxy Nexus, and Moto XOOM 4G.

Yes, Unrevoked. Follow the instructions on their site and you will be just fine. I also have an OG Incredible, and rooting it with Unrevoked was painless.
