Ugh. I would date him. Ughhh.

I have nothing to add.

Goodwill.

That's one of the great mysteries of Kinja.

Re: the cigarettes, it's something he could have picked up in rehab as a way of getting off the other substance. Because it's really hard to quit anything. As a way of helping him with his treatment, I'd try the non-judgmental approach, because it's pretty awesome that he got through rehab for that other thing, and

I am twenty seven years of age.

I approve of this so long as you don't start sharing photos of beautiful white ladies in yoga poses with inspirational messages floating in the ether around her. Because I already have to hold back from writing negative messages on on person's FB wall, I don't think I can maintain my composure here.

Eh, there are a lot of people who earn their salary at walmart*. Not buying isn't going to hurt the people on top - they've got quite the safety net. Instead, buy what you want, and fight for better business practices and regulations.

I thought Florence was pretty nice, myself.

ON THIS THE MOST TURKEY OF DAYS.

Yeah, what is up with that? The Middle Passage, assholes. Or apartheid. Or several other examples. Christ. Read a book, everyone.

Beat me to it!

I don't know anything about that, but my implant (nexplanon) has entirely stopped my period. I haven't bled in a year, and it's been incredibly awesome.

White/dominant culture - I'm conflating the two, since whites are dominant, etc. And yes, white culture does steal, endlessly, from brown and asian and all other cultures. It's very Roman, it's very "melting pot". There are, of course, consequences when brown people engage in their own culture, and praise when white

Oh good, I wasn't the only one who noticed that. Sigh.

People of color cannot avoid white culture. It is literally impossible. People who are disenfranchised understand their position and how things work better than people on a higher rung on the privilege ladder, but they have no means of climbing upwards. It's more important for people like me to be able to look down

Yes, and she is implying that it's the people of color who have to do all the legwork.

Dude, as a white person to another presumably white, shut up. What Havok is talking about isn't segregation, nor is it the same thing when disenfranchised groups wish to associate with one another outside of the white paradigm.
