No, you're right. We put so much emphasis on our physical appearance because we buy into the narrative (it's forced on us, to be fair, hardly a choice) that our value and confidence match our shoes and hair.

That's what we did with ours! They took the pills, the pills just did not work. GAH.

Oh yes! Mine are so good about it, but once I attempted to help my friend trim the claws of his three legged cat. With four people holding the cat down and one person attempting to trim, all we ended up with was a scratched and bloody belly (the owners) and several bitten hands.

I tried! Got some pills from the vet that did not work. It was so, so awful. I'm still traumatized.

Aw! Poor baby. Ours are both very passive, though they complain incessantly about the kitty carrier. Probably are a little traumatized from the ten hour car ride, once.

The trick is to put the carrier upright and dump the cat in. Except at the vet, where at least one will walk back into his, it's the only way I've managed to get these cats to go anywhere.

Yeah, that "look at this person who had something to live for!" eulogizing is really rubbing me wrong.

But what do they charge for helping me give the cat his medicine and cleaning my bathroom? Because if that's offered, boom, sold.

My fiance has tried them before, and he always had miserable nightmares. So, hoping for the cold-turkey approach next
