Is your argument that a man getting raped is less serious than a woman getting raped? I don't think your analogy works here. I don't really get your point here. All of the attention has been fixated on women in this area one article gets run and you have to poo poo it? Then you try to say that you think more attention

Just... freaking... RELAX.

Protip: just don't fucking ever compare things to lynching or rape.

You may want to go back and read some of the other threads on this topic. I'm not trying to be snarky, but a lot of other commenters already covered why being old and white in the south is not an excuse.

Crucifixion AND lynching. She's just missing "Holocaust" to complete the "she did not fucking use THAT word" trifecta.

You are right - I'm constantly hearing "it happens to men more" - that's only because more men are solidiers. The fact is 1 in 5 women are sexually assaulted in the military but only 1 in 20 men. So it is far more dangerous to be a woman in the army. We should be drawing attention to the issue for both sexes but don't

I hate to pile on, but I've actually been writing to news organizations begging them to cover military sexual trauma (MST) as a gender-neutral issue. In my experience as a mental health professional working with Veterans, THERE IS SO MUCH MST. This is just the tip of the iceberg! I've had men and women of every

I think it is unhelpful to make a false choice between focusing on male sexual assault and female sexual assault. All rapes are bad. Period. It is not useful to derail an article that focuses on men by saying women have it worse any more than it would be to do the same to an article that focuses on women.

If I may ask a question about the affirmative action case:

Yes, MRAs use it as an excuse. But it's still important to talk about. It still absolutely has a place in the discussion of sexual assault. A huge part of dismantling rape culture is breaking the silence, and that very much includes destroying the invisibility of male victims.

"But I strongly object t"

I'm not arguing that it's some huge conspiracy on to cover up male victims intentionally — merely pointing out that the assaults on men don't get mentioned anywhere near as often, which is especially problematic because sexual assault in the military is frequently discussed in terms of "women joining the military

This is why it annoys me when people use the fact that men can be victims of this sort of thing too as proof that anyone who tries to talk about it is a hypocrite who only cares when it happens to women, implying that that's a good argument for why women should just shut up about it. The reason men usually don't

Authentic portrayals of female experience: as offensive as pornography.

NO! Not vaginas!

If it's a white penis....

This is not about life. This is not about babies. This is about controlling women- their bodies, their choices, their economic, social and political impact. The End.

I was at the recent Daily Show taping where Jon interviewed Bassem and their chemistry was magical. In my head, these two are biffs and they talk to each other like this everyday.
