... Little late to the party on this one, aren't you, Jezebel? This was on friggin' Huffpost like two weeks ago, and circulating before that. >.>

Is it difficult to go through life completely unexamined, never challenging your beliefs? Being sentient, I've never attempted it, so you'd be giving me some real insight here.

Yes. In what way is that not consistent with "Doctors are seeing the weight when it is not relevant"?

Really? Because I don't know that. I'm pretty sure that's the sort of thing I've been speaking out against in that entire thread. And also what all of the stories in the other comments were about. And a real systemic problem that's been documented in a lot of places.

Fat people also have health problems that are completely and totally unrelated to their weight, and when doctors ignore that- like in the case of the person in this thread who has MS?- patients fucking die.

Others would deny the videotape existed unless it was uploaded to Tumblr, evidently.

Actually, no. Not everybody privy to the evidence has said that. The investigator assigned to her case did not look at her evidence, and, as noted, the school has a history of handling these cases very, very badly. The police force and the DA both thought it was worth moving forward, and the director of the school's

Right. The college which has routinely failed to follow up on rape charges, and the police officers who assigned an investigator to her case. Oh! And let's add the DA that has accepted the evidence she's provided, and who is moving the case forward to trial.

Wait just a fucking minute, YOU YOURSELF approved of this person's blog six days ago! You said she didn't have anything to worry about in the lawsuit! What the fuck, man?

So... You don't actually know a goddamn thing about rape prosecution, do you? I mean, not only do you not know the statistics, but you don't actually know what evidence is admissible and useful in determining whether consent existed.

Not me, sorry. Send your condolences to the author, though!

Right. Because that evidence is taken into account. Ever. It isn't just left sitting around ignored even though it's right there and there's no evidence whatsoever to suggest innocence in the face of overwhelming proof of guilt.

You're right. Sometimes they just assume that the victim is lying and the rapist is not a rapist. You know, like Rehtaeh Parsons. Or the girl in the Steubenville case.

Fine. First, destroying all the articles you've posted:

So... Nice assortment of paywalls there. I'm only able to read the abstracts of a decent chunk of them.

Doctors get paid to give objective analysis.

    I couldn't agree more. >.<

It's not backed by them. It's stated by them, unsourced. And, if you have access to the right journals, I can point you to any number of articles that are actually, you know, peer reviewed that say that being overweight =/= being unhealthy.

Just explain to her that it's because everyone else of your gender is too damn sexy. That puts the blame on them, and she can spend her golden years railing against everyone else instead of you. n_n

It's because of the asking. Remember, some men are insulted at women having the right to refuse. =/
