Two words: Broken clock.
Two words: Broken clock.
@Demonbird: More to the point, while those three are the most famous video game detractors, there are dozens of lesser-known politicians who have supported game censorship in the past, and they come from both parties. Hell, look through Kotaku's archives and you'll find tons of Democrats and Republicans making the…
@Uiru: They seem to be trying for a fresh start with the new Pokemon anime. All the characters have been redesigned, and the only returning good guys are Ash and Pikachu.
@puffa469: What a dumb idea. Who even has money anymore?
Note also that Brock's Japanese name is Takeshi. And earlier this month, Brock was written out of the series after 11 years.
Like the screenshot above shows, my scariest game has got to be Giraffe Makeouts III. Why did it have to be in first person? Why did there have to be motion controls?
It's amazing how the media always feels the need to track down some half-wit professor at a substandard college so they can get their token "VIDEO GAMES ARE EEEEEEEEEEVVIIIIIIIL! OOOOOOH!" quote from someone who sounds vaguely authoritative.
@thelastwarhero: Why don't most humans rape and kill each other, then?
Eventually mom's going to start wondering why you're always on the same screen of that old-looking game you keep playing.
@Korsi: I'd say the fact that they went to the trouble of creating and implementing an entirely new look for the main character indicates a pretty big push toward marketing to the west. I mean, it's one thing to use different box art or marketing to make a game look more dark for western audiences. It's quite another…
I can't think of a single Japanese title that has benefited from trying to be more western. Nier was an expensive flop. The Conduit was a mediocre attempt at aping the FPS genre. Other M decided stories about angsty space marines were the hip thing to emulate and look where that got it.
@Patrick Hogan: Seeing as how he's basing it on a middle eastern religion that is popular all around the world (including Asia) I don't see a problem.
@saigumi: What in the name of poop are you babbling about? Western and Eastern designers have different philosophies. He doesn't want to compromise his. There's nothing in there that even hints at dumbing the game down.
From best to worst:
@cityslicker: Correction: Lazy comedy is about offending people.
@German Cons Tapia: Thanks for telling me what I wanted.
Forget Cloud, Squall, Tidus, and Lightning.
I don't know if I can really say they made a better Sonic game when 2/3rds of it is just old levels with a new coat of paint. It's more fair to say they reminded us why the old games are better.
@cityslicker: Coming soon from the creators of Outsourced: "Mexicans!"
@cainxavier: Do you seriously think any TV show would have the budget to do The Eternals justice? You'd either have to scale down the concept drastically, or each episode would have to approach the cost of a major feature film.
